Media Planning: Forecast Reach, Impressions, and Leads

Media Planning: Forecast Reach, Impressions, and Leads

Media Planning generates LinkedIn forecasts for reach, impressions, and leads from your targeting and budget. Plans are saved locally in Revenue Proven and exported to CSV. Learn what the feature does, how to compare plans, and the key distinction between local plans and LinkedIn campaigns.

Media Planning lets you model a LinkedIn campaign before it goes live. Enter targeting criteria, budget, objective, and date range, then generate a forecast for reach, impressions, and leads. Save as many plans as you need, compare them side by side, and export to CSV for review or sign-off.

How to Use Media Planning

  • Open /dashboard/media-planning and select an ad account
  • Set your targeting criteria using include and exclude facets, starting with a location
  • Choose a campaign objective, set a budget, and define a date range
  • Click Generate Forecast to retrieve reach, impressions, and lead estimates from LinkedIn in parallel
  • Save the forecast as a named plan; saved plans are listed in the My Plans tab
  • Use the Compare tab to view plans side by side with CPM and CPL calculated
  • Export any plan to CSV from the My Plans table

Forecasting and Caching

When you generate a forecast, Revenue Proven makes parallel calls to LinkedIn's forecast API for reach, impressions, and leads. Results are cached for several days keyed to your targeting criteria hash, so repeating the same query returns the cached result quickly. The forecast reflects LinkedIn's own audience and delivery estimates and carries the same accuracy limitations as forecasts in LinkedIn Campaign Manager itself.

Export Options

Plans export to CSV. The interface includes a button labeled PDF, but the current export produces a plain-text file rather than a formatted PDF document. CSV is the reliable format for sharing plans with stakeholders or importing into presentation tools.

What Media Planning Does Not Do

  • Plans saved in Revenue Proven are local records only; they are not created, updated, or deleted in LinkedIn Campaign Manager
  • Saving or updating a plan does not launch or modify a live LinkedIn campaign
  • There is no direct sync of plan data to LinkedIn; the forecast is a planning tool, not a campaign builder
  • Media Planning is included on the Growth plan and above
